The Sport

Everything You Need to Know

New to the game or returning for another season? Here's what to expect in our spring softball program.

About Softball

Softball is a dynamic team sport similar to baseball, played with a larger ball on a smaller diamond. Two teams alternate batting and fielding, scoring runs by rounding the bases โ€” with one key difference: pitching is always underhand.

Our program welcomes players at every skill level, from first-timers to returning veterans.

What to Bring

Gear up for the spring season:

  • Softball glove (required)
  • Cleats or athletic shoes
  • Athletic pants or shorts
  • Face guard (recommended for fielders)
  • Water bottle

Batting helmets, bats, and team jerseys are provided.

Game Format

The spring season runs April through June, with games on weekday evenings and weekends. All divisions play on a regulation softball diamond with underhand pitching.

  • All games: 6 innings
  • Rookie: Coach or machine pitch
  • Minor & Major: Live underhand pitching
  • Modified mercy rules apply
